MINUTES

Present: Chairman Vince Thomas, President David Clark, Art Collins, Jim Babcock, Ed Brickell, Durwood Curling, Doyle Hull, Anna McNider, Jim Oliver, Jake Tobin

Chairman Thomas opened the meeting at 10:00.

President Clark thanked Jim Babcock and other members of the Planning Committee for their hard work and good progress in moving forward in follow up of the Forum series.

Art Collins presented a short legislative update noting that, if compromise was not achieved on the budget, the legislature was, "two weeks from a train wreck".

Jim Babcock presented a power point presentation titled, A Proposal for Improving the Competitiveness of Hampton Roads. After considerable discussion, Anna McNider offered a motion that the presentation be presented to the full board for comment and approval. Jake Tobin seconded. The motion passed by unanimous vote of the members present.

David Clark noted that the Competitiveness proposal had the potential to be a major part of the future of the Future of Hampton Roads. He urged that we proceed carefully and correctly in the execution of the project and that we seek the counsel and assistance of the best and brightest in Hampton Roads to bring it to fruition.
