FHR receives highest honor at Providence Business News Healthiest Employers Awards

Providence, RI – August 15, 2013 – The health and wellness initiatives of Fellowship Health Resources (FHR) were showcased at the Providence Business News (PBN) 2nd Annual Healthiest Employers Awards, where the behavioral healthcare agency received the highest honor in its employee category for the second consecutive year. Held at the Marriot in downtown Providence, the Awards Luncheon honored 26 top business recipients, ranging in categories from 150 to over 5,000 employees.

“Wellness programs work, from any number of perspectives,” shared PBN Editor Mark Murphy. “Employees are healthier, and happier, thanks to their participation. Companies see health care expenses decline, and programs that emphasize team approaches create a more tight-knit, collegial work atmosphere.”

Jennifer McKenna, FHR Benefits and Wellness Advisor, points to this tight-knit atmosphere as exactly what differentiates FHR from other companies. “The inter-department collaboration, as well as the strong role models FHR’s staff have from our leaders, makes it easier for the organization to get involved and work together,” she says.

In order to select the winning companies, PBN collaborated with Healthiest Employers, a technology and data research company, to evaluate all entries. Rhode Island businesses that submitted applications completed extensive surveys, which were compared to similar programs nation-wide, as well as an essay explaining the wellness programs in place.

“As a healthcare agency, we understand the importance of integrating both physical and mental wellness into our organizational culture,” explains FHR President & CEO Debra Paul. “To be honored as one of Rhode Island’s healthiest businesses is not only encouraging, but a testament to the efforts of our agency as a whole in getting involved in wellness.”

In addition to FHR being recognized, Pamela Daisey, FHR Chief Operating Officer, was featured for her recent weight loss of 90 pounds. Through participating in FHR’s wellness programs, including ShapeUp, she shares that her colleagues inspired her to begin living a healthier lifestyle.

“It’s empowering to be recognized today, and a proud day to be part of the FHR team,” says Daisey. “Looking forward, we are excited to continue to offer both traditional and innovative programs that allow FHR to provide our staff and individuals served with the best resources and information possible.”
