CHESAPEAKE, VA – A new program is designed to provide an advanced level of expertise to already existing efforts focused on providing support to emerging businesses in the Hampton Roads region.

Brad Scott, current President of the Entrepreneur’s Organization of Southeast VA (EOSEVA) announced the chapter’s 2013 plans to partner with Future of Hampton Roads via its “Mentoring for Emerging Companies” (MEC) program.

“There have been several efforts within our region to boost start-ups via incubator and accelerator programs. MEC is not a replacement for those efforts. Rather, MEC is an effort to add to existing efforts through business mentoring with the EOSEVA membership. Our hope is that we can offer experience and insight from businesses that have grown to a minimum of $1M in annual sales per year.”

The MEC program has two delivery channels:

  • Business-to-Business Mentoring Series of pre-recorded audio and video interviews partnering with Future of Hampton Roads to host the segments within the Economic Competitiveness focus area of their website (http://fhrinc.org/current-studies/economic-competitiveness/b2b-mentoring-series).
  • Entrepreneurs Reflection Series is planned to be series of two hour live discussion panels with participating EOSEVA members and qualified businesses as the audience (i.e. annual revenue, # of employees, HQs in Hampton Roads). FHR will also assist in facilitating these events.

Scott, who is President and CEO of Cetan Corp in Chesapeake, went on to say: “We hope that offering some insight from successful business leaders in our community will help emerging companies take their businesses to the next level. We want to make this a regional effort so we can help the overall economy of Hampton Roads through all business sectors.”
